Fancy a little surprise in your vegetable garden? Our Perennial Kale Lucky Dip is a pack of three strong, established plug plants, selected from the perennial kales we're growing here in Derbyshire.

What you will receive

• Three rooted perennial kale plug plants — not unrooted cuttings.
• Plants selected at random from available stock, Taunton Deane, and Daubenton's.
• Your pack may contain a mixture or three plants of the same variety. This is a genuine lucky dip, so we cannot promise a particular variety or three different varieties.

Why rooted plugs?

We do the propagation work for you. Some cuttings don't take, so we only dispatch plants that have developed good, established root systems. You can pot them on or plant them out when conditions are suitable, without having to root a cutting yourself.

Growing your kale

Perennial kale is a useful, long-lived leafy vegetable for a kitchen garden, allotment or food forest. Harvest leaves as plants establish and continue growing, avoiding taking too many leaves from young plants at once. Growth and hardiness depend on the variety and growing conditions.

Unpack promptly on arrival. Check the moisture of the plugs, water if needed, and give them a sheltered spot to acclimatise before planting out. Protect young plants from severe frost and extreme weather.
